Reading Passage I
Black holes are the most efficient engine of destruction known to humanity. Reading Passage II
Born in Adigrat, Tigray Region of Ethiopia, Miruts Yifter spent early parts of his youth working in different factories as a carriage driver. His talent as a long-distance runner was notice when he joined the Ethiopia Air Force.
Miruts was called to the Ethiopia National Team for the 196he first African championships in 1979 he won two gold medals in 5,000 and 10,000 meters.
Miruts was unable to participate in the 1976 Summer Olympics because his nation boycotted the event. Four years later in Moscow, Miruts made up for his meters from finish and won by ten meters difference from his follower. Five days later, in the 5000 meters final, Mirut was boxed in during the last lap. But with 300 meters to go, his Ethiopia teammate, Mohammed Kedir, Stepped aside and Mirut again sprinted to victory. Due to his abrupt change in speed when executing his kick to the finish, Miruts acquired the nick name" Miruts the Shifter"
Mirut Yifter died at the age of 72 on 22 December 2016 in Toronto, Canada where he had lived since 2000 after suffering from 8 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, but he made his Olympic debut four years later in Munich Olymic where he won a bronze medal in 10,000 meters.
